Located on the edge of the tranquil, sweeping hills on the Calne, Wiltshire side of the North Wessex Downs, our bespoke Shepherds’ Huts offer the chance to experience countryside camping in the peaceful English countryside with many of the luxuries and essentials of home. Our Shepherds’ Huts were specially designed with comfort in mind, offering our guests a space to relax and unwind in the natural surroundings without the worry of building a tent or getting cold in the middle of the night.
Chloe and Perdita contains a well-equipped kitchen area, meaning you can easily prepare your own meals and store food in the refrigerators throughout your stay. Gabriel Oak takes you back in time with a more rustic approach to cooking with it’s outdoor cooking facilities. When it comes to bedtime, we think you’ll find it hard to step outside your cosy Shepherd’s Hut once you’re curled up under our cotton bed linen, enjoying both the toasty warmth and ambience of the hut’s wood burner. There are electrical sockets in each hut if you need to charge your phone or kindle or would like to play music on your portable stereo. There are fresh towels for our guests who would like to use our clean shower block hut, located no further than a minute’s walk from any of the huts.
On those warm, balmy summer evenings, as the sun slips towards the horizon, you can light up the barbeque provided and eat outdoors against the shimmering golden glow of the surrounding fields and hills. The perfect way to prepare for bedtime, snug inside your very own Shepherd’s Hut, with the sound of nature soothing you into a deep and restful sleep, leaving you the next morning revitalised and refreshed, just as the dawn chorus ushers in another day at Highway Hill.
As you can see from the photos and descriptions of Gabriel Oak, Chloe, and Perdita, each of Shepherd’s Hut has a unique personality and atmosphere that enables a special, relaxing, and comfortable experience for each of our visitors. There is a toilet and shower hut facility a short walk from the huts that you will pass when you first enter camping grounds.
If you choose to book all the accommodation (three Shepherds’ Huts and two Bell Tents – for up to fourteen people) you will have exclusive use of The Safari Tent and the whole, gated accommodation site, perfect for those retreat-like special occasions with friends, family or business events.
