New residential yoga retreat booked for September 2018

After seeing the success of previous yoga activities at Highway Hill, we’ve been keen to encourage more yoga teachers to use the facilities here for retreats; the Hayloft is a wonderful space to practice yoga, and our accommodation and self-catering facilities, located as they are in the middle of deep countryside, are perfect for relaxing group events. So it is with great delight that we welcome Sona Sharma of You Can Change, who will be holding a weekend retreat from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September 2018!

Sona, who is based in West London, has over 30 years’ experience and practice in yoga and has been teaching since 2002. She teaches a slow flow yoga that aims to help you connect with the present moment through using your breath whilst feeling anchored in the poses.  As the need to slow down has become more vital, she also uses yoga nidra (a type of deeply relaxing yoga that aims to take the practitioner to a dream-like healing space that balances the mental, physical and emotional parts of us) and yogic breathing techniques. You can expect to be expertly guided through poses that support inner experiences to build the relationship between movement, breath and the moment, leaving you feeling stronger, looser, more at ease, and at home in your body and mind. Sona has an adaptable practice and seeks to be accessible to students with a wide range of needs and abilities – after all, yoga is supposed to be for everyone.

Sona’s retreat begins from 2pm on Friday 21st September, when guests can start to arrive and get settled. Over the next two days, her guests will experience a range of different yoga practices to suit the moment: from more active yet calming sessions in the morning to a quieter restorative yoga practice which includes mindfulness in the evenings. Attendees will share delicious and seasonal vegetarian food and be able to make full use of all the resources at Highway Hill. There will be plenty of time in between activities to read, take walks, enjoy the sunset, and generally reconnect with yourself in nature. For more information from Sona herself, follow this link to see her flyer.

If this all sounds like your idea of heaven, then you’re in luck because there are still a few spaces left! The cost for the full weekend is £285 per person in a bell tent, or £395 in a shepherds hut. Alternatively, you can come for just the day on Saturday for £65 per person. Please contact Sona on for more details and to book your place.

We are thrilled that Sona has decided to hold her retreat at Highway Hill and are excited to see what the weekend will bring for her!
